Debuutsingle Psyfix gaat viraal: meer dan 100.000 views in 5 dagen

De Mechelse hybrid metalband Psyfix heeft met hun debuutsingle "Breaking The Chains" een viraal succes geboekt. De officiële lyrics video op YouTube, uitgebracht op vrijdag 20 maart, heeft in amper vijf dagen tijd meer dan 100.000 views verzameld. Een indrukwekkende mijlpaal voor een band die nog maar net hun eerste single uitbracht.
"Breaking The Chains" gaat over innerlijke strubbelingen: de zelfopgelegde ketens die iemand gevangen houden in de eigen gedachten, en de strijd om zich daarvan te bevrijden. De kernzin "The hardest battles are the ones unseen" raakt een thema aan dat in de huidige tijdsgeest bijzonder actueel is: onzichtbare ziektes en psychische moeilijkheden. Vooral jongeren die worstelen met mentale uitdagingen herkennen zich sterk in de boodschap van de song, en dat universele gevoel verklaart mede waarom de track zo snel zo ver reikt.
Opvallend is de geografische verspreiding van de kijkers: de video blijkt bijzonder populair in Zuid-Amerika, wat meteen ook de interesse wekte van internationale media uit die regio. De band, een fusie van symfonische metal, nu metal en metalcore, lijkt met hun kenmerkend contrast tussen de melodieuze leadzang van Sofie Jacobs en de rauwe schreeuwen van Arne Vandoorne een snaar te raken die ver buiten de Belgische grenzen trilt.
Psyfix is ook live aan het werk te zien: op 24 april staan ze naast Hammeramp in Jeugdhuis Jakkedoe (Desselgem), op 2 mei vervoegen ze Unstill, Dalver en October Changes in De Verlichte Geest (Kortrijk), en verder in de toekomst vind je hen op 17 oktober op de vijfde jubileumeditie van Garage Rockt naast Wijf, Hideous en Fleddy Melculy.
Naast de Belgische mediaberichtgeving heeft Psyfix ook internationaal de aandacht gewekt. De band werd gecontacteerd door Metal Junkbox (Portugal), Bravo Revista (Mexico) en de Braziliaanse muziekjournalist Igor Miranda, die meer dan 150.000 volgers heeft op social media. De populariteit van de video in Zuid-Amerika lijkt een katalysator voor deze internationale doorbraak.
